An international team of researchers, including those from UC Berkeley, has strong evidence that space dust collected from NASA’s Stardust mission originated outside of our solar system.
Congratulations to ucirvine Earth system scientists who made the cover of Science. Jay Famiglietti and his team created the cover image, which is based on their research that demonstrated how NASA’s GRACE satellites could provide more detailed data on the Earth’s changing water cycle and may greatly benefit water management. Caught a glimpse of a ‘shooting star’ (meteor) last eve and thought about our plan to book an interview with researchers involved in the first analysis of stardust that was collected during NASA’s Stardust Mission. The Berkeley Lab was one of the facilities that analyzed tiny specks of interstellar dust and found they are more complex in composition and structure than previously imagined.
